School "Daze"

Yesterday was Ty's 1st day of school. The ranch is home base this year, so you can see us dropping him off yesterday morning. Yesterday afternoon, we led Cody down to meet Ty at the bus stop, and we rode horses home after school. If you double click the pictures and look at them up close, you'll see that Ty is wearing his backpack in one, and his boots are attached to the saddle in another.

Mi Vida Loca

That means "My Crazy Life!" We did a lot of living this month! July events included: The trip across the state to the wedding, a couple days later I helped with Teen camp at Paisano, Teryn and Ty went to a Boys camp at Paisano, we also spent a little time at Paisano General Encampment, we went to Angelo to work on a house we bought for resale, and Teryn and Ty worked cattle on different ranches most of the month. All that in addition to work and all the things we usually do! Ty is doing a great job training Cody, but he's still riding my horse when they work cattle! Ty needs about 15 more rides before he starts using Cody as a cowhorse. You can see from the pictures that they are riding outside the round pen now, and Ty is pretty relaxed on Cody - enough to drink water on his back!

Ty & Cody

Today was Ty 's first day to ride Cody. They did great! He'll be working with Cody all week, and hopefully he'll be able to ride outside the round pen soon! He's looking forward to turning 16 (in 6 years)so he can be in the Cowboy Extreme! Speaking of ECR, the following is a site you can go to see a video of Teryn Lee's ride in the finals last week. Just go to this site and click on the Pro Division Finals run. http://www.instantreplaypro.com/htdocsEventProofPages/ECR2008.html#

Amber's Wedding

A few day's after Ty's birthday, we decided to make the trip to go to Amber's wedding. It was a tight squeeze in the truck, because Tricia's family joined us on the trip! But it was great being able to spend some time with them! Once at the Dallas area, we got to see fireworks at the lake, then the next day was the wedding! It was a fairy tale wedding - with amazing attention to the details!! During the trip we took a horse to Clay to train. On the way home we took a small detour and picked up a new little billy goat - his name is Muenchie! We covered a lot of ground this weekend, and had a great time. The next wedding will be in August! My sweet niece, Michelle will be marrying her highschool sweetheart. In the pictures you can see Grandma and Grandpa with Amber, The Siblings (of Grandma and Grandpa), and "DaNieces"(of the Siblings)!

Ty's B-Day

July is proving to be another whirlwind month. It started with our trip to Missouri, a few days after our return, Ty had a birthday.

Athletic Supporters and ECR

<

First I want to thank our athletic supporters - Dawn, Chad, Holly, and Ty. They all helped in dozens of ways, and made a great weekend extra special! I also wanted to add a link to Merrick Studios. Those of you who want, can go there to see some professional pictures of the guys! I especially urge you to look at Teryn Lee's pictures # 24 and 25. His horse stumbled on an uphill bareback jump. The picture is awesome. You can copy the following link and paste it in as an address, or you can do a search for Merrick, go to Event Proof Page 2008, then go to ECR, then find the Teryn's in the alphabetical listing. http://merrickstudios.morephotos.com/mp_client/pictures.asp?eventid=0&eventstatus=0&categories=no&keywords2=no&groupid=%201911&bw=false&sep=false
I put a picture of Teryn and Holly with his new saddle, and the other picture is of Ty accepting "PopPop's" buckle. Teryn was in the middle of selling his horse and didn't get back in time for the awards ceremony, so Ty helped him out!

Eat Your Heart Out Sister!

We ate out with Clay and Amber and her family. Little Ayden is adorable and seemed very content! I thought I'd upload a few pictures for the family, since Ivy has been having trouble with her blog!

A Visit with Clay

We got to visit with Clay briefly. He looked great, and told us that he got A's in some really tough classes that would have knocked me on my rear! We're hoping that Big Teryn and Clay can enter a Cowboy Extreme competition sometimes within the next year!

6/20 ECR Results

A couple pictures from the Extreme Cowboy Race this past weekend. Father and Son competed in the Amature and Professional divisions respectively. Teryn Lee won his division earning his 4th championship. Big Teryn got 8th and was happy to win his first ever buckle. I'm pretty sure I'll be in the dog house for putting up the picture of TLee entertaining himself with Ty's techno gadgets on the trip up. There is also a picture of the belt buckles, the Teryn's relaxing, and TLee giving Big Teryn last minute instructions, and last but not least Craig Camreon interviewing Big Teryn.

My Grandkids!

Looks like Ryanna has more in common with 'Mimi' than a middle name and wild hair. I think she loves donkeys!! Look at Ryanna doing the army crawl! I had to add Poppop and Ty riding horses.

TLee's Visit

These are a few pictures from the weekend. Teryn Lee did an Extreme Clinic for the Cowboy church. Also 7/8 of the family, Holly and Teryn, and Tio and Ryanna

Sweet Little Ryanna

Trish said that she took Ty and Ryanna swimming the other day, and Ryanna played and played until she turned blue. When Trish took her out of the water to warm her up, Ryanna cried until they got back in. I can't wait to go swimming with my grandbabies!!

Wonderful, Lovely Donkeys!!

Last night our chapel group met here at the ranch, and I put MiHijo through his paces. He was a HIT! They loved his tricks!
The other day, I was trying to get MiHijo to pick up a piece of paper sack for me, but he thought the sack was a donkey eater! So we had a little 'situation' on our hands. As I was working with MiHijo trying to convince him that the sack wouldn't hurt him. Teryn made the comment that he thought I would win the battle. I smiled inwardly thinking that Teryn was aknowledging my superior intelligence and awesome training ability. After I thought about it for a minute, I realized that there was a certain smugness in his voice that sort of changed the meaning of what he'd said! He was really referring to another quality that donkeys in general, and I specifically, are well known for. Whatever the reason, I am proud to say that Teryn's prediction was accurate. It won't be long before MiHijo and I can take a walk, and he will pick up trash for me!
I'm adding a site about the Burro Lady of the Big Bend. It's worth it to take a look at the article. The Burro Lady was a living legacy for many years. I always admired her, and it was always a treat to see her in her travels! The following is one web address - http://www.bigbendchat.com/portal/forum/whats-happening/%91burro-lady%92-dead-at-age-65-t2926.0.html;msg56596 If you have trouble with that address you can type in a search on: judy ann mager @ big bend chat. com - a good article should come up.

School's Out!!!

A couple of pictures of Ty's end of year activities: baseball, and the Elementary Musical. I tried to get a picture of his award's ceremony - he made the A B Honor Roll, but he was walking too fast. Some of you may recognize the picture on the rock outside the college where the musical was held.

Maestro

We just have way too much fun out here! Dayle, our new neighbor, has many talents! Two talents that we especially enjoy are his knowledge of the bible, and his ability to play the fiddle. He shares his talents by teaching me to play the fiddle and doing a weekly bible study with us. All we do in return is share supper with him. I think we have the better part of the bargain!

Kissing Donkey and Fixin Waters

I know...a kissing donkey is just wrong! I guess we have to find entertainment any way we can! The other picture is of Teryn fixing the water. When we went riding, he found a tank emptied because of a bad float.

Outlook

One of the ranches that we lease has an old truck sitting on a ledge overlooking a canyon. Every time we go, it makes me laugh! I tried to get a picture, but nothing would do the scene justice. Hopefully, this picture will give you an idea about the nostalgia of the scene!

Poor, Tired, Mi Hijo

Nuff Said!

Clowning Around on Mother's Day

Everyone had fun. The boys - and Teryn were standing on their horses. The pig and donkey followed us everywhere! They entertained us, and aggravated each other the entire day!

Mother's Day Weekend

We had a great Mother's Day weekend! It started late Thursday night, when Clay and Chad arrived at the ranch! On Friday night Tricia, Joe, and kids came out and we caught up on all occasions from the last 6 months: Christmas, Valentines, Easter, Clay's Birthday, and Mother's Day. On Saturday we played with horses most of the day. We were amazed at all that Clay has learned since he's been at Clint's. He was able to give Dad quiet a few pointers! Saturday night we went to Tate's wedding party and saw most of our favorite people from around the area! On Sunday we played with horses again. I'll put up more pictures from our rides on the next post!

Skunk Story

I wish I had a picture of this one, but a words will have to suffice!
We keep several cats down at the barns to keep the mice and rats away. Inside one barn is a bathroom, and we keep the doors open so the cats can come and go and do their jobs. Well the other day, Dale was 'sitting on the pot' when he heard a noise in the cabinet opposite him. When he opened the door to take a look, he found himself nose to nose with a polecat! The skunk prompty turned around and did what they do when they're scared! There wasn't much Dale could do with his britches around his ankles. Luckily his hat got the brunt of it! If that's not funny enough, there's more. The next day Dale and Teryn put out the live trap to catch the skunk, and as Teryn was trying to get the skunk out of the trap, Dale hollered, and the skunk got scared and sprayed Teryn too! It'll be a while before either of them live that one down!

A Boy, a Horse, and a Dog

Horse Training 101

Cody is 2 years old now, and we've been getting him ready to be a cowpony! In these pictures you can see: The parade to the round pen. Ty preparing Cody to have a passenger. Ty sitting on Cody. Cody and Ty had a great training session, and we're excited about the progress they will be making this summer!
